Keeping kids 8 - 13 active

Club-V Max facilities are our kids-only facilities inside 22 of our clubs that cater to the 8 – 13 age groups. If your club doesn’t have a Club-V Max, your kids still have access to all the age-appropriate facilities, classes and equipment so you can workout together as a family.

Under your supervision, you can all get your cardio on by using specially selected pieces of cardio equipment, participate in a selection of age-appropriate group exercise classes, swim in our leisure and lap pools and use our squash courts (club-specific) and the stretch areas.

All Your Questions About Kids’ Rules Answered!

Does my child need a membership to access the gym?

Yes, children need a membership to access the gym. There are various juniors’ membership options based on age and club facilities. Check with the member’s club to confirm the available options.

Do I need to supervise my child while in the gym?

Yes, children aged 13 and under must be actively supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times. The exception is if they’re signed into a staff-supervised kids’ facility.

Can I leave the club while my child is in the kids' facility?

Yes, as long as an authorized adult signs the child into the kids’ facility and our trained staff are caring for them, you can leave the club. However, you must stay within a reasonable distance of 10km and return on time to collect your child.

Can I stay with my child in the kids' facility?

Yes, parents can stay with their child for up to 10 minutes when dropping them off to help them settle. After that, we encourage parents to let their child adjust independently. Staff will call you back if needed.

Can I leave if my child is attending a swim lesson?

If your child is 8 or older and has passed the Virgin Active Shark Test (swim competency test), you can leave the poolside while they are in the lesson with swim instructor. If they are under 8 or haven’t passed the test, you must stay poolside to supervise.

What is the Virgin Active Shark Test?

The Shark Test is a 15-minute swim competency test for kids aged 8-13. It checks three skills: treading water for 1 minute, swimming 50 meters, and holding a submerged mushroom float for 10 seconds. If they pass, they can attend swim lessons without a parent in attendance.
